Carole A. Feuerman

캐롤 퓨어맨(b.1945)은 하이퍼 리얼리즘 양식을 사용하여 대형 사이즈의 수영선수 조각을 만드는 조각가로 잘 알려져 있다. 미국에서 전개된 1960-70년대 하이퍼 리얼리즘은 사회적, 정치적, 문화적인 발달로 혼란을 겪은 미국 사회에서 내면을 탐구하기 위한 방편으로 모색되었는데, 퓨어맨이 조각하는 여성의 인체는 여성의 내면의 평화와 아름다움을 시각화한 것이다. 캐롤은 “작품 속 여인은 그냥 아름다운 여자가 아니다. 그 사람이 가지고 있는 도전, 열정, 끈기, 사랑, 관계, 균형, 조화, 평화 등이 담겨있다”고 강조한 바 있다. 작품의 인물들은 청동, 레진, 대리석 등 다양한 재료로 만들어진다.

Carole A. Feuerman is a sculptor known for creating large-scale swimmer sculptures using the hyperrealism style. Hyperrealism, developed in the 1960s and 70s in the United States, emerged as an exploration of the inner world in response to the social, political, and cultural turmoil in American society. Feuerman’s sculptures of the female human form visualize inner peace and beauty. She emphasized, “The woman in my work is not just a beautiful woman. She embodies challenges, passion, perseverance, love, relationships, balance, harmony, and peace.” Her works are made from various materials such as bronze, resin, and marble.
